Day 19/30

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for another great week ahead!

Continue to be diligent with your food choices and exercise habits and good things will continue to happen!

Today I wanted to briefly touch on some different vitamins and supplements. There aren’t too many that you need to be focused on and nothing is technically a “necessity” but they could be helpful for your overall health.

The first vitamin I would recommend is just a daily multivitamin. For your multivitamin, I would try to get a gender and age specific one because it will be more tailored to your specific needs. A multivitamin will give you a small boost in all areas which can be helpful if your diet is missing something even just slightly.

Next, if you live anywhere in the north with a true winter, or if you’re someone who doesn’t get much outdoor time due to work or other reasons, you definitely need to be taking a vitamin D supplement. Vitamin D is extremely essential for bone health, immune health, muscle function and prevention against many diseases.

If you are one of these individuals needing vitamin D, I would also recommend supplementing with magnesium. Vitamin D cannot be absorbed without the presence of magnesium, so if you are magnesium deficient, you would also be deficient in vitamin D. Regardless of where you live, magnesium is a helpful supplement to incorporate into your routine as it helps reduce stress, regulates mood, helps with sleep & muscle function and can improve energy. Since most of the population would consider themselves “stressed” magnesium is a helpful, natural way to promote relaxation without causing any harm to the body.

The last vitamin I would recommend is fish oil. If you are someone who doesn’t eat fish or consume fish products often, this would be a helpful addition. Fish oil helps reduce inflammation, protects eye health and helps lower blood pressure. It is also believed that it can help anxiety, slow bone density & muscle loss and manage arthritis symptoms.

If you have any questions on vitamins, supplements or if you should be taking something more specific, don’t hesitate to reach out!
