Day 17/30

Happy Saturday and third weekend of the challenge!

Today I wanted to briefly talk about weight loss! I know this is a main and common goal for New Year’s resolutions and it could also be an expected outcome with this challenge!

Weight loss is different for all people because we are all so different! Sometimes it can actually take a few weeks for weight loss to begin and can take even a few months to notice changes if you’re not constantly weighing yourself. I know many people want the quick fix but weight loss is a process! You need to be maintaining all the right things on average for a length of time to notice changes.

As mentioned in a previous post, to lose weight you MUST be in a calorie deficit. To speed things up you could also pay more attention to your exercise - lifting weights will speed up the process. You can also be extra mindful of your diet including alcoholic drinks. At the end of the day weight loss is not an overnight success or even a monthly success.

Ideally, for sustainable, healthy weight loss, we would want to aim to lose 0.5-1.5lbs/week. Often times the scale can show more and eventually level out due to water fluctuations or inflammation. Weight loss is possible throughout this challenge but it is going to take a continuation of the habits you are building to make meaningful change! Throughout this challenge you should also learn more tips and tricks that will help you with future weight loss if that is your ultimate goal!

With all of this being said, do not get discouraged if you know you are doing the right things but aren’t seeing huge changes in the scale just yet. Make sure you are in fact doing the right things, stick with them and the progress will happen.

Keeping my daily walk and increased steps goal, as well as strength training each week was a game changer for me in addition to following your dietary guidleines and recipes. Never thought it was possible to lose the weight and keep it off! I continue to do these challenges because they are great reminders and so motivating!
