DAY 9 - VARIETY WITHOUT THE SPIKE
Welcome to Day 9 of Sweet Enough January
You may be starting to crave something different.
Not necessarily sugar — just variety. When meals become consistent and steady, it’s natural to want new flavors, textures, or experiences.
Today is about learning how to add variety and enjoyment without falling back into the sugar-driven highs and lows.
Variety Isn’t the Same as Sugar
Added sugar often provides quick novelty: intense sweetness, fast pleasure, and an immediate shift in how you feel. But variety can come from many other places — flavor, texture, temperature, and satisfaction.
You can create interest in meals by:
Changing proteins or cooking methods
Adding herbs, spices, citrus, or savory sauces
Playing with textures (crunchy, creamy, warm, cold)
Trying new recipes or cuisines
These forms of variety support enjoyment without creating spikes and crashes.
Satisfaction Keeps Cravings Quiet
When meals are satisfying with enough food, protein and flavor cravings tend to stay calmer.
If you’re feeling restless or unsatisfied, it’s worth asking:
Is this boredom or hunger?
Would adding more food or flavor help?
Do I need variety — or rest?
A Gentle Reminder
This challenge isn’t about eating bland food or will-powering your way through January. It’s about finding a rhythm that feels nourishing and enjoyable.
As you move through today, allow yourself to experiment with variety in supportive ways.
I have attached two recipe ideas to provide something that may interest you to try or just spark some ideas for creativity in your diet!

When using dairy items is it best to go for whole or reduced fat items? I feel like there is conflicting information on this. I.E. Milk, sour cream, cottage cheese. Should we also go for the grass fed options always? I feel like I am better reading the labels now, but wonder if I am always picking the 'healthiest' option?
