Sweet Enough January doesn’t begin with big changes or rigid rules — it begins with awareness. Before anything shifts physically, we start by noticing what’s already happening.


Many people are surprised by how often added sugar shows up, especially in foods that don’t taste “sweet.” Sauces, dressings, packaged snacks, drinks — awareness alone can feel eye-opening on the first day.


Day 1 is not about willpower or discipline. It’s about gathering information — learning how your body responds when added sugar begins to step out of the picture.

Awareness is the foundation of this challenge. The more clearly you see your patterns, the easier it becomes to make choices that feel supportive rather than forced.


Before moving onto the next day, I challenge you to think about a few things and reflect on the day. Some things you can ask yourself;

  • Where did I notice added sugar today?

  • What surprised me about what I ate or drank?

  • How did my energy feel throughout the day?


As you move into Day 2, keep paying attention — especially to cravings. When they show up, pause. Notice the timing, the trigger, and how they change when you’re nourished.


Starting tomorrow we want to continue to try to filter out added sugars in our diet where we see them pop up - sauces, yogurts, dressings, added sugar in coffee's, etc. Assume when you are eating out that mostly everything will have added sugar, unfortunately! Unless you get very simple, high quality food.
