Sweet Enough January: Start by Noticing

Unlike previous years, this years challenge doesn't necessarily have us going cold turkey on sugar from day one...

Instead, the first few days of Sweet Enough January are about paying attention.

Before anything shifts physically, we start by noticing what’s actually in our food — where added sugars show up, how often they sneak in, and how automatically they’ve become part of our day. This isn’t about judgment or “catching yourself doing something wrong.” It’s simply about awareness. For the first 1-3 days, I want you to just start looking into what is currently in the foods you consume on the day to day. Are there specific times you're drawn to processed or "sweeter" foods? How do we feel after consuming added sugar? Do we feel content, do we crash out?

During days 1-3 I would encourage you to slowly steer away from items with added sugar once you notice where it is a part of your diet. As you begin removing added sugar, I encourage you to also notice how you feel.

How is your energy throughout the day?Do you notice changes in your hunger, your focus, or your mood? What happens in the afternoon, or after dinner, or when you usually crave something sweet?

For many people, the first few days bring a mix of things — maybe cravings, maybe fatigue, maybe even a sense of relief. All of it is information. Nothing needs to be fixed.

This challenge is designed so that awareness comes before change. The more you understand how food affects your energy and emotions, the more confident your choices become — not just during these 21 days, but long after January ends.

Sweet Enough January isn’t about “being good” with food. It’s about learning how your body responds when things are simplified.

Below you can find a link to the PDF that will guide you through this challenge. Additionally, I will post notes here each day to keep us on track. Use the guide as a companion, not a rulebook. Come back to it as often as you need. Let the early days be about curiosity, not control.

We’ll build from awareness — one meal, one day at a time.
